Este domingo es una oportunidad de dar gracias por el sacerdocio y de honrar y valorar a nuestros propios sacerdotes. En nuestra escuela, nuestros sacerdotes juegan un papel importante en la vida de nuestros estudiantes. Ya sea trabajando con monaguillos y lectores en la Misa, visitando las aulas para compartir y orar con los estudiantes, brindando apoyo espiritual y emocional a las familias y al personal que lo necesitan o simplemente estando presentes para los estudiantes en el recreo, nuestros sacerdotes son vitales para la vida de la escuela y estamos profundamente agradecidos.

This Sunday is a reminder of the opportunity to give thanks for the priesthood and to honor and affirm our own priests. At our school, our priests play an important role in the life of our students. Whether it’s working with altar servers and lectors at Mass, visiting the classrooms to share and pray with students, providing spiritual and emotional support to families and staff in need or just being present to students at recess, our priests are vital to the life of the school and we are deeply grateful.

This weekend’s Gospel touches upon the subject of stewardship. As Christian stewards, we receive God’s gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord. As followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, Jesus calls us to be disciples. Christian stewards respond in a particular way to the call to be a disciple. Stewardship has the power to shape and mold our understanding of our lives.

El Evangelio de este fin de semana toca el tema de la corresponsabilidad. Como cristianos corresponsables , recibimos los dones de Dios con gratitud, los cultivamos responsablemente, los compartimos amorosamente en justicia con los demás y los devolvemos con aumento al Señor. Como seguidores de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Jesús nos llama a ser discípulos. Los cristianos corresponsables responden de una manera particular al llamado a ser discípulos. La Corresponsabilidad tiene el poder de dar forma y moldear nuestra comprensión de nuestras vidas.

In today's Gospel, Jesus narrates three parables: the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the last parable tells us about the son who spends the inheritance that his father gave him. The son leading a messy life wasting his assets, but there comes a time in his life when things are not going well and he understands that he has acted wrongly. After doing an examination of conscience, he returns to his father's house to ask his forgiveness. The father was waiting for him far from complaining and setting conditions for his bad behavior, he goes out to meet his son and receives him with a hug and kisses (Lk. 15: 11-32).

All of us, I suspect, knows what it is to be haunted by the specter of an unfinished project. We started out to make something or to do something, and when the task was partially completed, we laid it aside. Now, it just sits there day after day, reminding us of our poor planning or lack of resolve. The world is fairly filled with partly written books, partly painted pictures, partly earned academic degrees, and partly realized dreams.

Sospecho que todos nosotros sabemos lo que es ser perseguido por el fantasma de un proyecto no terminado. Comenzamos a hacer algo y cuando aún no lo terminamos, lo dejamos de lado. Ahora, simplemente está allí día tras día, recordándonos nuestra mala planificación o falta de resolución. El mundo está bastante lleno de libros en parcialmente escritos, de cuadros aún no terminados, de títulos académicos no obtenidos y de sueños no realizados.

El Evangelio de hoy, Jesús narra tres parábolas: la oveja perdida, la moneda extraviada, y la última parábola nos cuenta del hijo que gasta la herencia que su padre le dio. El hijo llevando una vida desordenada malgastando sus bienes, pero llega un momento en su vida que las cosas no van bien y entiende que ha actuado equivocadamente. Después de hacer un examen de conciencia regresa a la casa de su padre para pedirle perdón. El padre lo estaba esperando lejos de reclamar y poner condiciones por su mal comportamiento, sale al encuentro de su hijo y lo recibe con un abrazo y besos (Lc. 15: 11-32).
