How is your faith in God?
by Deacon Oscar Cervantes | 06/30/2024 | From the ClergyBrothers and sisters, we heard in the first reading how God created the world and man in the image and likeness of Himself so that he would have eternal life, not so that he would die. But the Devil introduces death through sin. God loves the world so much that even after death he entered the world by becoming poor so that we could enjoy the riches of reconciliation with his poverty. In the gospel we hear how Jesus came into the world to do good and heal the sick so that they may be saved, but we also have to have faith since without faith we have nothing that can save us.
We see in the gospel how the woman with the issue of blood disease who, after having exhausted all her economic resources, still could not be cured, but with faith she goes to Jesus and just by touching his cloak she is cured. When Jesus realizes this, he asks who touched him and the disciples do not understand since there are many people around Jesus, but Jesus notices the healing force that comes out of Him. The woman fearfully confesses that it is her and Jesus clearly tells her that because of her faith. She has been cured, may she go in peace. Today we need to have that faith more clearly since it is the only thing that heals us and gives us the opportunity to one day enjoy eternal life, which is God's plan for each of us.
As our Pope Francis reminds us, without faith we have nothing and are nothing, but with faith we can enjoy all the fullness of God.
How is your faith in God? I invite you to seek that fullness of love in God, to grow more every day in faith and to bear witness with our actions and thus share that love of God with faith.
