The Epiphany of the Lord
by Deacon Juan Carlos | 01/05/2025 | From the ClergyToday we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord, the revelation of God to all peoples and as we already know that the wise men represent precisely the nations of the world, they had the privilege of knowing how to distinguish a star different from the others that would guide them to God born in a manger.
Today's gospel (Mt. 2: 1-12) tells us that the wise men guided by a star arrive in Jerusalem and begin to ask "Where is the king of the Jews who has just been born?", not getting a precise answer they continue on their way, but their hearts rejoice when they see again the star that guides them to the exact place where God was born, born as one of us, what great joy the wise men experienced when they saw the Child-God in Mary's arms.
A star guided the three wise men to Jesus Christ. Mary is par excellence the “Morning Star” who guides us to her son Jesus, but we may also find a person who guided us to Jesus when we begin our journey of faith with Jesus, through an invitation to a retreat, a conference, through a sermon, through a prayer, etc. People who helped us meet Jesus. We who have already had the good fortune of meeting Jesus are also called to be a star that guides others to Jesus, or perhaps be part of and help others find Jesus.
Right now there is someone you know who longs to meet Jesus, but like the three wise men, they need you to guide them to Jesus. In prayer and discernment, ask the Spirit what you have to do and how you can guide this person to find Jesus of Nazareth.
I wish you a Happy New Year 2025 full of many blessings for you and your family!
