When the liturgy is celebrated, something more is required!

“But in order that the liturgy may be able to produce its full effects, it is necessary that the faithful come to it with proper dispositions, that their minds should be attuned to their voices, and that they should cooperate with divine grace lest they receive it in vain. Pastors of souls must therefore realize that, when the liturgy is celebrated, something more is required than the mere observation of the laws governing valid and licit celebration; it is their duty also to ensure that the faithful take part fully aware of what they are doing, actively engaged in the rite, and enriched by its effects.” (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 11).

Is the celebration of the Eucharist producing its full effects in your life? Do you come to the celebration with the proper disposition? Mass is the gathering of God’s people following Jesus’ commandment to “do this in memory of me”.

“Mother Church earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to that fully conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy.” (SC, 14).

Are you aware of the National Eucharistic Revival initiative to “To renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist”? This initiative seeks “To inspire a movement of Catholics across the United States who are healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist - and who are then sent out on mission for the life of the world." It is not enough just to come to Mass, something more is required!
