Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

by Deacon José Alfredo Reyes  |  05/31/2026  |  From the Clergy

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. We are definitely a Trinitarian Church: we make the sign of the cross, we bless, we baptize, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit; in other words, the Holy Trinity is in our DNA as Catholics.

Last week we celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit; about eight weeks ago we celebrated the resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ; and today the readings talk to us about the love of God the Father, “for God so loved the world…”

In our days we live in a world in which we think we are self-sufficient and that we don’t need God walking with us; as a matter of fact, you know that in many countries, including our own, it has become illegal to mention God in public places.

This is the time when we most need to invite God to walk along us, side by side; this is one of the times in history when we are walking “through the valley of the shadow of death” and that makes it more critical that we are the “believers” to whom God sent His only Son, so we can be saved.

Let us give glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.

AMEN
